Tropicana Dreams Festival and other locations across the island.

In the Mediterranien heat and paper curling humidity of Mallorca, a frenzied malaria-like vision gripped the brains of a merry band of island-culture connoisseurs: an open minded international event dedicated to self-produced publications, including fanzines, posters, cassettes, vinyl records, exhibitions, installations, live performances & music, bringing together people of all kinds from all corners of the planet – a mutually supporting multidisciplinary mash-up with the goal of exchanging ideas and culture „Tropicana Dreams“.

This festival would be a platform for people to come and dazzle the island with fresh, innovative cultural inputs; colourfull, sensitive and crazy people to invite to ones home rather than soul-less Airbb monoculture bizzness deals, a week long festival where the island underground scenes could come together reach out and knit a dynamic new network to present before a new international audience.
Through such actions and intentions, Mallorca begins to be more than just an EU fuck and fight theme park as it positions itself on the international map of independent publishing, cultural self-management and artistic exchange…Tropicana Dreams the Balearic event of the decade.

A few short weeks back in grey cold and wet Berlin and the socio cultural initiatives Centrifuga, Project Uter and Pappsatt meet together to reflect on these recent experiences, in an effort to try to capture the essence of their tropical excursion, back from the island of over-plenty, where tourist surplus overflows trashbins and plastic, clothing, cardboard and every conceivable kind of material for upcycling can be found – trash paradise!

These fotos and collages offer a personal abstract glimpses into the festival, as well as experiences in the Mallorcan town and country: an historic document of sorts, as well as a psychedelic shout out to the universe, D.I.Y culture and you! for the next Tropicana Dreams manifestation
